"ZAPPA PLAYS ZAPPA" PROJECT WINS GRAMMY AWARD

RAZOR & TIE DISTRIBUTED LABEL SH-K-BOOM/GHOSTLIGHT NABS ONE FOR "IN THE HEIGHTS"

At last night's 51st annual Grammy Awards ceremony, ZAPPA PLAYS ZAPPA, the music of Frank Zappa as performed by his son Dweezil Zappa and ensemble, was recognized for Best Rock Instrumental Performance of "Peaches In Regalia” from the album ZAPPA PLAYS ZAPPA, a Strobosonic/Razor & Tie Entertainment release. IN THE HEIGHTS, the Tony Award winning musical from Razor & Tie distributed label SH-K-Boom/Ghostlight also won for Best Musical Show Album.

"We are very proud to be associated with these outstanding projects,” commented Razor & Tie Co-Owners Cliff Chenfeld and Craig Balsam. "They are very deserving of Grammy recognition and reflect our commitment to releasing an eclectic group of quality recordings.”

Considered by many to be a genius composer, guitarist and producer, Frank Zappa's body of work is as vast, as it is diverse. ZAPPA PLAYS ZAPPA album and DVD are the astounding music of the late Frank Zappa played by an expert ensemble led by his son, Dweezil Zappa, an accomplished musician in his own right. Two shows from the 2006 critically-acclaimed live tour, ZAPPA PLAYS ZAPPA, were pristinely filmed and recorded to capture the experience. The result is a double-DVD set, a single audio album, and a limited edition fanpack (featuring the two-DVD set and three CDs containing the entire audio content, totaling 270 minutes). Produced by Pierre and Francois Lamoureux for Strobosonic, the DVDs feature over three hours of performances of Dweezil's "rocking teenage combo”, including previous 2006 tour special guests: Steve Vai, Napoleon Murphy Brock and Terry Bozzio. Rolling Stone proclaimed, "ZAPPA PLAYS ZAPPA is totally truth in advertising: a fantastic band led by guitarist Dweezil Zappa, dedicated to performing the music of his late father with exacting precision." ZAPPA PLAYS ZAPPA will be touring extensively this in 2009 with the upcoming West Coast shows (dates here) and more dates to be announced shortly.
