DEAD CONFEDERATE ON TOUR WITH THE WHIGS IN MARCH AND DINOSAUR JR. IN APRIL

PERFORMANCES CONFIRMED AT SXSW - ADDED BY MAJOR ROCK STATIONS ACROSS THE US

Alt-rockers Dead Confederate will tour in March with fellow Georgians, The Whigs and in April with legendary rockers Dinosaur Jr. The band will also stop in Austin, TX for a number of SXSW shows (tour dates below). Dead Confederate has spent the last few months touring in support of their critically-acclaimed full-length debut, WRECKING BALL, released in September 2008. The first single, "The Rat" has been well received by major rock stations across the country including KNDD/Seattle, KBZT/San Diego, KWOD/Sacramento, WARQ/Columbia and KNRK Portland. The band appeared on Late Night With Conan O'Brien, and was one Rolling Stone's "Artists To Watch."

Dead Confederate is the first artist Gary Gersh, A&R legend and founder of The Artist's Organization, signed to his new imprint. The band released a self-titled EP in late 2007. The EP garnered immediate attention and the band found themselves opening for R.E.M. at SXSW, as well as sharing the stage with Yeasayer, the Black Angels, Deerhunter and Black Lips among others. The band has also played festivals such as Bonnaroo, Sasquatch, etc. Their 2008 full length follow-up release, WRECKING BALL, was produced by Mike McCarthy (Spoon, Trail of Dead).

The album continues to receive rave reviews with a recent Pitchfork review, “the seductive blend of country-fried guitar tones and steel-mimicking wails…Morris lacerates his vocal cords that glues it all together so powerfully." Rolling Stone has said Dead Confederate is "a raw howling take on Southern rock..." The Onion adds "Wrecking Ball sounds like Bleach-era Nirvana covering My Morning Jacket...Dead Confederate's alt-country/grunge hybrid doesn't just feel like a compelling debut, it feels like a compelling new genre."
