Bio
Hailing from Athens, GA, Dead Confederate's music is best described as intense, southern, psychedelic rock. Following their self-titled EP release in late 2007, they burst onto the scene in 2008 with an opening spot for R.E.M. at SXSW. Their debut full length album, WRECKING BALL, has received innumerable raves from tastemakers and press alike, including Rolling Stone's "Bands to Watch" and glowing reviews from NPR, SPIN, New York Times, Blender, etc. The band made their US television debut on Late Night with Conan O'Brien with their first single "The Rat." The single found great success at alternative radio with regular rotation at KNDD/Seattle and KBZT/San Diego. Dead Confederate has toured with Manchester Orchestra, The Whigs, Dinosaur Jr. and Drive-By Truckers to name a few. The band was discovered by A&R Man Gary Gersh (Nirvana, Sonic Youth) in their hometown and Gersh signed the band to TAO / Razor & Tie. Dead Confederate's sound soars out with a raw howling that invades the hearts and souls of their listeners.
